Each student–mentor pair will work together throughout the fall semester on a mathematical topic of mutual interest. Projects typically involve reading a textbook or lecture notes together, but can take many forms depending on the background and goals of the student.

The DRP gives students the chance to explore a new area of math and to develop their ability to learn mathematics independently. You'll meet weekly with your mentor, work independently between meetings, and receive funding to purchase a copy of the book you’re reading from. At the end of the semester, all participants will gather for a mini-symposium, where students share short presentations on their work and all will enjoy free pizza to celebrate the experience.

Eligibility

All sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a strong background in mathematics (including the completion of at least one proof-based math class) are welcome to apply.
